Spring is a very special time at Nybro Frugtplantage. As the days get longer and the temperature rises, nature awakens and work really gets underway. The apple trees bloom, and we prepare our popular pick-your-own experiences, plant new trees, and stock the farm shop with fresh produce.
It’s also the time when we take extra good care of our apple trees, bees, and orchard, so this year’s apple and pear season will be the best. At Nybro Frugtplantage, we combine local family craftsmanship with sustainable production, so visitors can experience the season’s fruit and flavour straight from the orchard—from pick-your-own apples and pears to fresh products from our Mosteri Fyn.
We plant strawberry plants and set new potatoes, so the first flavourful strawberries and long-awaited new potatoes can be bought in the farm shop. At the same time, around 3,000 fruit trees per hectare are planted—everything done by hand and with traditional family craftsmanship.

In the summer months, irrigation is absolutely essential in the orchard. We regularly measure the soil’s moisture with sensors, so we can see how much water each tree has available.
With drip hoses, we make sure the plants get exactly the amount of water they need—neither too much nor too little. This careful irrigation and care ensures that our apple and pear trees thrive, and that the harvest provides fresh fruit for pick-your-own and our farm shop.
