In the heart of the beautiful countryside on Funen, you will find Nybro Frugtplantage, run by Tina and Thomas Nybro with help from their daughters, Sarah and Mira, and of course the family’s four legged helper, Pumba the dog. Together, we care for our fruit trees, bees, and the nature that surrounds us.
Here, the whole family is involved in the work, from the late summer harvest to the cosy Christmas season in our farm shop. We believe in genuine craftsmanship, Danish ingredients, and the great taste of fresh fruit from Funen. It is true Funen family craftsmanship, where quality, personal service, and a local farm shop go hand in hand.
At Nybro Frugtplantage, we grow 17 different apple varieties and 3 pear varieties, which you can buy directly from our farm shop. We harvest the fruit when it is fully ripe, ensuring you enjoy the freshest flavour and the best texture.
Many people visit us every year to experience our locally grown fruit, apples and pears with the taste of sunshine, fresh air, and Danish craftsmanship. Here, you can enjoy our pick your own experience and take freshly picked fruit home with you.
In September 2006, we established our own cider mill on Funen, creating a small production facility for our cold pressed apple juice. Since then, we have grown significantly by expanding our production facilities, streamlining our processes, and building a dedicated team.
What began with just Thomas and Tina has grown into a family business with three full time employees, supported by several young part time staff members who help with production throughout the year.
All the apples used in our apple juice are grown and hand picked in our own orchard, and we use only Grade 1 apples. Our juice is cold pressed using traditional methods and gently pasteurised at approximately 80°C to ensure a longer shelf life.
We carefully select apple varieties that create a fresh, well balanced flavour rather than an overly sweet taste. The result is an apple juice that is crisp, full bodied, and refreshing, just like biting into a freshly picked apple straight from the tree.
At Nybro Frugtplantage, we combine traditional craftsmanship with local ingredients, so you can taste the difference in our fresh apple juice, non alcoholic apple mulled drink, strawberries, potatoes, and plums. Our products reflect the flavours of the season and the authentic taste of Funen, making them popular with local farm shops, Danish cafés, restaurants, and food wholesalers.
In September 2006, we started our mini cider mill. A small production facility for our own cold-pressed juice was set up.
A lot has changed since then—you learn as the years go by. A slightly larger production setup, changed workflows, and a few minor reorganisations.
At first it was just us, Thomas and Tina. Today we also have 3 full-time employees, as well as quite a few young people in part-time jobs.
All the apples used for our juice are grown and hand-picked in our own orchard. Only Grade 1 apples are used for all our juice. The apple juice is cold-pressed the traditional way—without any additives. The juice is pasteurised (heated to approx. 80°C) to achieve a longer shelf life. We can’t use every apple for juice. We’ve found that some apple varieties make the juice too sweet, and we absolutely don’t want that. Our juice should be fresh and full-flavoured, with a little “bite”—as if you were eating an apple straight from the tree!
Over time, we’ve started making many different delicacies ourselves, which we sell in our farm shop, but also in specialist shops around the country. The ingredients in our delicacies are usually our own—otherwise Danish—and that matters a lot to us. Our mantra is: why use foreign ingredients when we have great, flavourful Danish ones?
We also make many delicacies, sold in our farm shop:
Everything produced with love for nature and respect for the ingredients. Besides apples and apple juice, you’ll also find Christmas products, e.g. non-alcoholic apple mulled drink, apple juice, and honey—all made with ingredients from Fyn.
Come and experience the taste of Fyn!
